"One day great leaders will quote me." Edgar

Edgar Ruiz Jr. is a writer, storyteller, and comedian from the Bronx. Known for his powerful, authentic narratives, his stories have been featured on The Moth and their NYT Bestseller, A Point of Beauty: True Stories of Holding On and Letting Go!

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Sociology from Lehman College, CUNY, and is pursuing a second degree in psychology. With over 20 years of experience in social services, he’s helped marginalized communities in New York State through organizations such as Good Shepherd Services and The Guidance Center of Westchester.

Following his true passion for writing, he has since transitioned to a career in storytelling and stand-up comedy. A  self-proclaimed comedy nerd, Edgar honed his comedic skills under the guidance of the renowned Stephen Rosenfield at The American Comedy Institute. He seamlessly integrates humor into his heartwarming stories of growing up in New York.

Edgar presently resides in Westchester County, New York, with his wife, Carolina, and their two young children. In his free time, he enjoys writing things no one ever reads, creating silly videos with his kids, jogging “absurdly slow,” and debating Star Wars. If you catch him daydreaming, he’s probably on a beach in Puerto Rico.
